Could great UK bands stop breaking up now please!? This blog is turning into a gravesite!
Hardcore darlings Kerouac have announced that after 3 years together they will be splitting up because “life caught up with us”.
The band has announced a fairwell show at The Old Blue Last in London on the 7th of July and entry is free. More details on the rest of the line-up are to be revealed but the band have said that it “will be made up of best friends”.
Also announced is a discography 12″ to be released in the Summer by Tangled Talk and Holy Roar Records. No firm date has been set but the band are working on the artwork “right now”.
Kerouac’s split us another huge blow to UK hardcore. The band were something really special and successfully mixed heart-on-sleeve brutality with progressive elements. Their debut release Cold and Distant, Not Living is one of my favourite hardcore releases and I urge anyone who hasn’t heard it yet to hunt a copy down.
The band also released songs on 2 seperate splits; 1 with The Long Haul and another with Pariso. RIP Kerouac; you will be sorely missed.
