Well this is a massive downer. UK hardcore heavyweights Lavotchkin are to split after an impressive 7 year run. The official word from the band via their Facebook page is, “So looks like the show April 1st is gunna be our last. Cheers for putting up with us the last 7 years. No bad blood, just getting old and busy with rubbish real life.”
If you are not familiar with the mighty shower of Northern bastards then you have now become VERY late to the game. Here’s exactly why Lavotchkin are so essential:
Lavotchkin will be playing one last show at The Northumberland Arms in Newcastle on the 1st of April as main support to Humanfly. Additional support comes from End Reign, Cauls, Hush, Fathoms, Hades and 40oz. Doors open at 4:30pm and entry is £6; a bargain for any serious hardcore fan.
Lavotchkin were set to release a retrospective 12 inch on Dead Dead Dead Music but this release is obviously a bit up in arms after this announcement. More details on that when we get it. In the meantime go and buy ‘Widow Country’ before all the copies sell out so you can realise exactly why this band are going to be so sorely missed.
